Tito Ortiz Aiming for UFC 121 Return in The O.C.

Mark your calendars because July 25th may be D-Day for Tito Ortiz. That’s when “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” is expecting to find out if he his surgically repaired neck will allow him to compete in his own backyard of Anaheim, Cali.
“Can I be ready by [Oct 23th] UFC at the Honda center? We will know in 10days!” Ortiz Tweeted on Thursday.
Ortiz was forced to relinquish his coaching post on “The Ultimate Fighter 11″ after abruptly withdrawing from his UFC 115 fight against Chuck Liddell due to the neck injury. Although most questioned the former light heavyweight champ’s motives for appearing in the popular reality show to begin with, Ortiz ultimately went under the knife in late May.
If the controversial wrestler gets the green light on the 25th, it would leave him with more than 12 full weeks to immerse himself in some hardcore training. Three months has become the standard camp for most elite fighters, however some have extended their prep time to 16 weeks.
“UFC 121 OCT AT THE HONDA CENTER! I’m not promising anything but you all will have a answer by the end if the month. Let’s go!” Ortiz added hours later.
While Ortiz appears gung-ho about making his highly anticipated return in The O.C., the UFC has not mentioned the 35-year-old’s name since punting him from TUF 11.
Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar will defend his title against Cain Velasquez in the pay-per-view broadcast.
